Recently, I happen to
clear up some space in the attic and came across my old collection of audio
CD’s. As I was browsing through them, I stumbled up a couple of CD’s of Surmani
Pravin Godkhindi. There was this particular CD of his - A Feather Dances: 7
Rhythms of the Flute, which was my favorite for a very long time. As I reached
out and opened this CD with all the excitement of listening to my favorite
music once again, I was touched with disappointment to see the case was empty.
I had already built in me the anticipation of experiencing the waves of his
soulful “Bamboo Magic”. My search for this particular CD was futile and I
realized that I had indeed lost a very prized possession. I spent a couple of
days brooding over the loss and finally decided to buy a new CD.
Over the weekend, I happen to visit my friend and to my delightful surprise, I
discovered that he had a copy of this very CD, the same one for which I had
searched high & low. My search did pay off after all, thought not in the
manner it might have intended to. As I touched the CD, I experienced a strange
sensation of a chord striking in my heart, and felt the anticipation of
experiencing the tranquil ripples of his serene flute fantasy building in me
once again.
I came home and played the CD. As I was listening to maestro of bansuri
building on his symphony, I was transferred into a land of music, where in a
calm came over me, and I felt myself experiencing peace like never before. I
could see that I was surrounded by nature and beauty in the purest form, heard
the ripples of water as it descended into a waterfall, felt the cool breeze
across my face and heard the chirping of birds. I was becoming one with the
nature.
The blissful and melodious tunes which flows from his flute is completely
captivating and takes you into an all together different world where in you
experience the wonders of nature and see the rainbow diverging. He is a genius
with the bamboo and creates music for the soul.
I was an agnostic until I experienced the divinity of his music. Now I believe
in the existence of god - in the form of beauty, in the form of nature
and…………………. in the form of MUSIC!!!
